At the Zoo
My trip to South Africa, Botswana and Namibia really triggered my interest in photography.
Before the trip I went to the local zoo with my new “good” and “expensive” camera (Ha! Canon PowerShot S2 super zoom) to practice. That was very wise as it was much better to make the many mistakes there and not when watching cheetahs eating in Krüger. Once my settings were so messed up that a turtle managed to walk away before I was able to take the shot. I’m not kidding!
I still go regularly to the zoo just for practice. Lot’s of moving targets that don’t mind the camera. Animals teach patience. When something finally happens, I need to be ready. I’m constantly guessing what the animal might do next and need to plan for different scenarios. I also need to figure out new kind of shots as retaking the same photos doesn’t make sense.
At the moment this is not a best of gallery but some shots that have been published in the blog.

I love the picture of the eagle. I feel as if it epitomizes that split second of action. Your other shots are nice as well!
